How I work.

I want to work with anyone who wants to be in therapy.

If you’ve got niggles or glaring big signs that keep you up at night, if you’re depressed, if you know you’re not quite where you want to be, if you see the past is hovering in your present, then I’d love to work with you.

I’ll work hard to give you the time and space to figure out how you want to use therapy.

I'll bring my experience, my training and all the tools I’ve got at my disposal into the room each week.

My qualifications and therapeutic approach.

I’m a qualified integrative counsellor, which means that I have an Advanced Diploma from a BACP-accredited course. Being accredited by the BACP lets you know that I work to an agreed set of ethics and standards, and my training did the same.  I’ve got an academic background in psychology as well. I have an undergraduate BSc degree and an MSc from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience.

Did you notice I called myself an integrative counsellor? In case you're not sure what that means, let me explain. As an Integrative counsellor, I’ve been trained in the big modalities and the prevailing schools of thought so that when I work with a client I can consider what techniques, styles and theories will be most useful for them.  It means I can treat you as an individual. No assumptions. No generalisations.

Well, I won’t know your life experience before you walk through the door.

Whatever your experience, I will not have walked in your shoes.

But, I will make sure you are only ever educating me on your life and not feeling the responsibility of educating me on a group of people’s experiences.

What about me being another white, femme-presenting face?

A  bit about who I am.

I’m queer, I’m a Londoner, I’ve worked in the corporate world as well as within mental health services. In fact, I started out working in frontline mental health services before moving into sales and marketing before several years in communications. I knew I'd come back to mental health and I'm so pleased it's as a therapist. Those years in corporate helped me understand even more perspectives and ways of being in the world. They made me a better therapist, just as much as working for the NHS did.

I’m analytical, dedicated and determined.

Deciding to call a therapist is a lot. Take your time.
I look forward to hearing from you whenever you’re ready.
